Hong Kong: ELLE Beauty & Health - Total editorial enhancement 06/05/2008
ELLE Hong Kong launches ELLE Beauty & Health to enhance the beauty & well-being editorial content of the magazine in March 08. ELLE Beauty & Health is sold in the format of "Book B", adjacent to ELLE, the main book. Coming in approximately 180 pages and featuring around 70 pages of advertising, ELLE Beauty & Health breaks the traditional bounds of a "supplement" by feeling like a proper magazine in its look and feel. ELLE Beauty & Health is published in the peak months of March, April, September and October in Hong Kong.
France : Nathalie Montaldier joins Lagardère Publicité 06/05/2008
Lagardère Publicité CEO Constance Benqué has appointed Nathalie Montaldier, general manager of Lagardère Global Advertising, (LGA) as member of Lagardère Publicité’s Executive Committee.
She will be responsible for the formulation and implementation of LGA’s strategy as well as developing sales of our titles and of new media.
She will be in charge of coordinating and managing the sales and marketing departments of our various offices and representatives abroad. She has also been given responsibility to formulate and negotiate all advertising outline agreements for the Lagardère Active group worldwide.
She will take up her post at Lagardère Publicité on 19 May 2008.
Nathalie Montaldier who is 46 years old has a master in economic sciences and a post graduate degree in marketing from Paris "Sciences Politiques" School. She had been head of the marketing and external communications department for the Printemps department store since 2003. Before that, she spent 7 years at LVMH where she was in charge of the French and worldwide media department of the Fragrances and Cosmetics division. Before joining LVMH she worked for some 12 years in advertising agencies such as Euro RSCG and TBWA.
France : Lagardère Active aquires Massin 05/05/2008
The group Lagardère Active has announced its purchase of Massin, publishers of 'Art & Decoration’ and 'Maison & Travaux’. Jean Massin put his company up for sale last February. The group, which last year achieved a turnover of €40m, specialises in architecture and decoration, operates in 3 main fields: press ('Art & Decoration’ and 'Maison & Travaux’), books (practical guides on decorating and art in the home) and cartography.
The two magazines have completed the already impressive portfolio of Lagardère, who now control 30% of the decorating magazine market. This acquisition, the success of which remains to be seen, coincides with Lagardère Active’s plan to launch a portal specialising in decoration.

In conjunction with the new magazine, veryELLE has launched its own website, veryELLE.fr, an innovative and creative e-magazine to complement the publication.
VeryELLE.fr is an online stroll of the magazine, much like turning the pages of a real one. The reader’s experience is enhanced by rich and animated video content, playful interactivity and the latest web-based technologies.
France : Lagardère Active still the leading French media group. 28/04/2008
At the end of the first trimester in 2008, Lagardère has maintained its position as the leading media group in France. Since February 2008 it has acquired 12 million new visitors to its web network, a 4.6% increase since February 2008, making the company the 8th biggest presence in the internet domain.
In addition to the Doctissimo and Newsweb networks, there are 5 websites which have continued to make good progress: Télé7.fr, Europe1.fr, Entrevue.fr, Elle.fr and Infobébés.com all hit the million visitors mark in February 2008 and continue to perform well.
The real success however belongs to JDD.fr. It reached the landmark threshold of 1 million new visitors in March 2008, an incredible increase of 98.6% since February 2008.
France: François Bourboulon named as new editor of Paris Match.com 23/04/2008
François Bourboulon was announced last Tuesday as the newest addition to the Lagardère group, taking on the role of editor at Parismatch.com.
Mr. Bourboulon will manage and develop all editorial content on the site, as well as working closely with the team at Paris Match to ensure coordination between the two.
He joins us from his former post at the daily newspaper, Metro France, where he was editor-in-chief for 2 years.
We welcome Mr. Bourboulon to the Lagardère group and wish him every success in his new post.
Finland: ELLE launched on the 17th April 21/04/2008
April 17th saw the launch of ELLE Finland and its accompanying website www.elle.fi.
With a circulation of over 100,000 copies, it is the 41st edition of ELLE abroad and has already proved extremely successful. The 100.5 pages of advertising in the first issue created a new record for a woman’s luxury magazine in Finland.
France: ELLE launches VERY ELLE 17/04/2008
This is the dawn of a new adventure between ELLE and women the world over. VERY ELLE will be published twice a year and will feature work by a slew of new artists and photographers as well as interviews with celebrities and editorial surprises.
"Very ELLE is a tribute paid to beauty, charm and originality. A one-of-a-kind encounter with a world entirely dedicated to fashion, which is entirely subjective because we’re only interested in conveying specific points of view", explains Valérie Toranian, editor-in-chief of ELLE and VERY ELLE.

UK : Lagardere Active Acquires DigitalSpy.co.uk 09/04/2008
Lagardère Active has acquired, through Hachette Filipacchi UK, DigitalSpy.co.uk, the UK’s number one independent entertainment news website, for an undisclosed sum it has been announced.
DigitalSpy.co.uk is the 4th largest entertainment news website in the UK with an excess of 2.1 million unique users on its main Entertainment News site and 3.1 million on its Forum Network. The only larger properties in terms of audience in the UK are The Sun online, MSN entertainment and BBC entertainment news (Source: Comscore Jan 2008). Digital Spy also has an extremely active and loyal community in its Forum Network which rank in the top 25 English language forums in the world by posts traffic (Source: Big-board.com Apr 2008).
The site covers a broad range of news and features across all areas of popular culture, including: showbiz, celebrities, movies, music, television, gaming and technology; while the media section covers the latest in the TV broadcasting industry with a particular focus on digital television and programming.

In conjunction with Indiana-based Executive Drive, Inc., an established and leading driving events company, Car and Driver and Road & Track recently launched the Car and Driver/Road & Track LIVE series, a nationally touring sports car driving program that allows consumers the opportunity to drive a fleet of exotic sports cars on either public roads or closed-course race tracks. Hong Kong: ELLE launches ELLE Men 31/03/2008
ELLE Hong Kong launched ELLE Men as a stand-alone bi-annual title on March the 14th 2008. This much awaited Spring-Summer issue features Tom Ford on the cover as well as exclusive pictures of the celebrated designer at home, shot by Nigel Parry. ELLE Men is a magazine tailored to the needs of the growing male luxury sector, with focus on fashion, grooming, watches and lifestyle.
Hong Kong: The World of Elle 31/03/2008
In celebration of the launches of two new spin-offs - ELLE MEN and ELLE Beauty & Health, and to build brand awareness for the rest of the titles and website under the ELLE umbrella, HFM Hong Kong hosted "THE WORLD OF ELLE", a three-day exhibition at Harbour City, one of the busiest shopping malls in Hong Kong.
One of the event highlights was a fashion show-cum-cocktail party on the evening of March 19, featuring 10 international brands. Six Hong Kong celebrities graced the catwalk together with professional models, drawing both key advertisers and the entertainment press. There was also a makeup demonstration on March 21, the first day of the Easter break, during which mall traffic was highly boosted, and an interactive booth where the public could "shoot their own ELLE cover."
USA: ELLE magazine names Sheri Lapidus Executive Director of Public Relations 27/03/2008
Sheri Lapidus has been named Executive Director of Public Relations for ELLE magazine (Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S.) In this newly created position, Lapidus will be responsible for all media relations related to the brand and will report to Carol Smith, SVP/Group Publisher.
Lapidus’ appointment comes in the midst of a very successful year for ELLE. The magazine closed 2007 with 2,510 advertising pages (Publisher’s Information Bureau) - the highest number in the magazine’s history and fifth consecutive year of advertising growth. Newsstand sales are up +9% over 2007 and the magazine increased rate base in 2008 to 1,050,000. In October 2007, Advertising Age named ELLE in its annual Top 10 "A" List for the second year in a row. ELLE has also achieved enormous success with Project Runway - the Bravo reality show that just completed its fourth season and is currently casting season five.

As of March 2008, Radiostacja, the second station operated by Lagardère Active Radio International (LARI) in Poland will become PLANETA FM. PLANETA FM will extend its network to include 18 Polish cities, the largest being: Warsaw, Cracow, Gdansk, Lodz and Poznan. The station is dedicated exclusively to playing party hits; the greatest Electro, R&B and Dance artists of the moment - 100% Dancefloor, and includes exclusive new programs that feature weekly mixes by the world’s greatest DJs such as Armin Van Buuren, Leo Coosto and Dominic Minelli, targeting an audience of primarily 15 - 29 year-olds. USA: Hachette US will publish 'Ty Pennington At Home' quarterly in 2008 25/03/2008
Jack Kliger, CEO and President Hachette of Filipacchi Media U.S, has announced that Ty Pennington At Home will be published as a quarterly, with the 2008 debut issue hitting newsstands March 25. The magazine will sell for $4.99 with an initial distribution of 500,000. The magazine offers Pennington’s solutions to the many and varied decorating and remodeling challenges facing today’s homeowners. The debut issue of Ty Pennington At Home, published in May 2007 was recognized as one of the hottest launches of the year by MIN magazine.
The magazine’s content will be featured on www.pointclickhome.com and on www.hfmus.com, which also includes all of the company’s shelter brands including ELLE Decor, Metropolitan Home, and the Woman’s Day Special Interest Publications.
